... and I didn't fuck up Japanese this semester. In fact, I actually did quite well.

So, after two weeks back at uni, I have come to this unpleasant conclusion.

If I study my arse off, spend every waking second attempting to memorize complex kanji and grammatical forms, eat, sleep & breathe the Japanese language, eschew all music that is in English*, eschew all novels that aren't in japanese, get all my news from japanese language websites (... do you see where this is going yet?)

... If I do all these things, then I *might* have a chance at passing my Japanese units this semester. Luck is also involved, obviously.

AARGH. I had no idea Nakamatsu-sensei was serious when she said people would sporadically burst into tears during Japanese class last year. I feel on the verge of that already, and it's only the second week back.

*NB: This is highly unlikely, since I am unable to get started in the mornings without a dose of shitty Guild Cafe coffee and at least half an hour of RTR FM's 'Morning Magazine' program.

OMG WENT TO SEE THE TWILIGHT MOVIE YESTERDAY OMG IT WAS PURE GENIUS.

Made t-shirts with unspokengirl; mine said "I HIGHLY DOUBT YOUR COMMITMENT TO SPARKLE \
MOTION", while T's said "REAL MEN SPARKLE".

The film was poorly scripted and directed but still awesome, we got to see Stepheeeenie Meyer eat a hamburger (secret internet fatty), WTF was up with Mike (AND ERIC), there was not enough Alice (& superflous Cullen) action, RPattz is hot and I want a boyfriend who wears 80s sunglasses and uses words like 'matriculation', whenever RPattz appeared onscreen all the teenybopper girls in the audience squealed, the song 'Supermassive Black Hole' was TOTALLY used in the wrong place (it should have appeared when Bella saw Edward for the first time, wtf), and the acting was appalling. I can't wait to see it again. That's all.

HOW IS IT THAT I'VE KNOWN ABOUT HER SINCE 'ARULAR' BUT NEVER LISTENED TO ANY OF HER STUFF BEFORE?

Oh yeah and today was awesome. I'll never forget being curled up on the lounge, eating macaroni & cheese, listening to the rain, and watching history be made on SBS. xD

At last, my first (second) year at uni is finished. Ahhhh I'm so relieved. I love uni and I love Japanese but I seriously need a break from it right now. I'm so exhausted and I've come down with this shitty minor cold and stressed and run-down; I've spent the entire day dozing in bed listening to the 'Twilight' audiobook.

Over the last nineteen years, I have discovered that I enjoy many things in a 'So-Bad-It's-Good' kinda way. For example: The Baby-Sitters Club, Sweet Valley High, everything Hello Project!-related (except MoMusu Sakuragumi, I genuinely love their ballads~), BoA's early career, most of BoA's Japanese career, the song 'UR SO GAY' by Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Decora fashion, Girls' Generation, Asian Dorama, Gossip Girl (for the first three episodes, anyway)... etc, etc, etc.

I can say, with all seriousness, that Twilight can not be included on that list. It's not so bad it's good. It's just... fucking... HORRIBLE. It took me nearly two weeks to finish it, because it was just that bad, and I had to force myself to read it, and my God... words fail me. WORDS FAIL ME.

I'm not going to bother nitpicking at it because let's face it, plenty of people have done that, and they're probably more funny about it than I am. All I can say is... wow, what a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE FUCKING NOVEL.

... baby-sat last night, and now I have a regular baby-sitting job, which should be interesting, to say the least. This means I have a semi-steady job for the first time since April. Which means I have a semi-steady income for the first tiem since April. And after getting paid eighty bucks for eight hours of baby-sitting, I've already mentally spent most of what I earned. Oh well. Maybe one day I'll learn how to curb my spending. :P

I have an English essay to finish before Tuesday and a ton of Japanese revision to do... some History readings (we're reading 'Mein Kampf' at the moment) and my Asian Studies reading to do before tomorrow... but I just can't be bothered right now. :\
